UK Search Engine Benchmarking Report
According to the UK Search Engine Benchmarking Report, indicate that trends of using mobile search have doubled since last year. Mobile searches have increased by 68% in US and 38% in the UK as compared to last year. Vice President of Google, Marissa Mayer revealed that
“the number of Google Map queries that come from mobile devices will permanently surpass the number of queries coming from desktop computers and on weekends that percentage climbs to over 50 percent”.
Searching on mobile or handheld device is efficacious from searching on desktop computer and laptop. User experience fast page loading, prompt results, high level of security and personalised search results in mobiles device as compared to desktop computers. The portable screen size, high resolution, long battery life, readability, and other facilities in these devices make mobile search easy for users; however typing can be a hassle which is gradually taken over by voice search. Google stated that,
"mobile search results take precedence over desktop search results when it comes to mobile searching".
